Introduce sexual harassment duties on employers, campaign urges

Unions, women’s rights organisations and charities have increased pressure on the government to make employers responsible for protecting their staff against sexual harassment.
The “This is not working” alliance has reiterated calls for new legislation that puts the responsibility for tackling inappropriate behaviour at work on employers. The government is expected to launch a consultation on addressing sexual harassment soon.

Oxford University’s retirement age not discriminatory, tribunal finds

A former Oxford University academic who was forced to retire at 67 has lost his claim for unfair dismissal and age discrimination, with a judge finding the policy exists to improve career progression and diversity.
Professor John Pitcher, who taught English at St John’s College in Oxford, claimed that the university’s Employer-Justified Retirement Age (EJRA) policy was discriminatory.

You don’t have to go far to spot under the careful eye of its mother, a fledgling fresher steering a shopping trolley loaded with essentials for their first term in Uni. This always makes me smile with nostalgia. At this time of year I always have a hankering to take a trip to Egham, Surrey to wander through my old University campus, Royal Holloway.
